Definicja i opis

High-resolution computed tomography (CT) uses thin-section axial tomography and a computer-image reconstruction algorithm, which produces less smoothing at interfaces, thus providing better delineation of small structures and detail. HRCT differs from the conventional CT in that it uses a very narrow x-ray beam collimation (1-1.3mm slice thickness compared to conventional 8-10mm) and a so-called 'high spatial frequency reconstruction algorithm'.
