Platelets, bilayer and hexagonal phospholipids are variously used as the source of excess phospholipids and this term covers them all. The use of one term for these variations reduces mapping work for practices that import laboratory results, but laboratories that use hexagonal phospholipids and think it important to distinguish their source can use 75883-9 instead of this term.
