Physical movements measured by accelerometer(s). Physical activity is a key component of health in all populations; yet the inter- and intra-individual variability is high. Objective measurements of free-living physical activity using portable accelerometers are the current standard for quantifying intensity, duration, and frequency, and can be used for continuous measurements over several days to weeks. These instruments can also be used in disease prevention and interventions.
