This protocol contains two interviewer-administered questions from the 2009-2010 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) that capture the frequency of ear infections and whether or not the respondent has ever had tubes inserted in his/her ears. The Speech and Hearing Working Group notes that this protocol could also be self-administered and that it could be asked of young children by a parent.
