This measure is a questionnaire to assess the respondent's exposure to a broad range of life events. This measure allows researchers to examine the occurrence of traumatic life events and the respondent's assessment of the physical and emotional responses to the events. Traumatic life events have been associated with many indicators of physical and emotional distress, including psychopathological symptoms and disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
