Virtually every infant born in the hospital in the United States should have critical congenital heart defects (CCHD) oxygen saturation screening. However, there are some cases in which screening was not appropriate or was not done for other reasons. This term is meant to capture the reason that screening was not performed in those rare instances that an infant did not get screened.
