Definicja i opis
EN This term represents the identification of the Influenza A H5 subtype based on the H5a probe and primer set provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "H5a" does not refer to a more specific type of the H5 virus, rather it is the name of one of the two primer and probe sets (the other is H5b) that are used to detect the Influenza A H5 subtype. For presumptive positive identification of the H5 subtype, results for both the H5a and H5b assays should be positive. If one is positive and one is negative, the result is inconclusive for the H5 subtype. Possible specimens include: upper respiratory tract clinical specimens (including nasopharyngeal swabs, nasal swabs, throat swabs, nasal aspirates, nasal washes, and dual nasopharyngeal/throat swabs), and lower respiratory tract specimens (including bronchoalveolar lavage, bronchial wash, tracheal aspirate, sputum, and lung tissue.)
