Definicja i opis

EN In vivo, IgG antibodies against aquaporin-4 (AQP4) cause fluorescence of small cerebral vessels, the pia and subpia, and the Virchow-Robin space on the optic nerve and cerebellar tissue. In vitro, cells transfected with AQP4 show smooth cytoplasmic fluorescence in the presence of AQP4 IgG antibodies with little fluorescence of the nucleus. This term was created for, but is not limited in use to, the Euroimmun NMO-IgG/aquaporin-4 immunofluorescence assay.
