A unique identification number for a multiple birth set to identify set members. Each infant (or fetus/stillbirth) in the set is assigned the same identification number. The number is used for analysis of characteristics of sets of births and fetal deaths in multiple deliveries and allows receivers of the data to more readily match members of multiple birth sets.
