EN Strongyloidiasis stercoralis is a parasite that causes chronic infection. It is most common in tropical and subtropical climates, and transmission occurs via direct contact with contaminated soil. Patients who are immunocompromised can develop life-threatening disease. Molecular techniques for detecting S. stercoralis DNA in stool are more efficient than traditional diagnostic methods such as culture.
