Definicja i opis

An alpha-1-antitrypsin (A1AT or abbreviated as A1A) clearance profile includes results for A1AT levels in serum and 24 hour stool specimen (otherwise 48 or 72 hours, depending on time it takes to collect a stool specimen), as well as the overall A1AT clearance result. Testing is performed to diagnose protein-losing enteropathies. Elevated A1AT clearance (above 50 mL/24 hours) suggests excessive gastrointestinal protein loss.
