Quantitative measurement of (1-3)-beta-D-Glucan in the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) of patients with symptoms or predisposing conditions for invasive fungal infection. (1-3)-beta-D-Glucan is an abundant cell wall polysaccharide found in most fungi. Testing is performed as diagnostic and prognostic aid of central nervous system (CNS) fungal infection and to evaluate for fungal meningitis associated with exposure to contaminated epidural steroid injections.[PMID: 25378578][PMID: 23363831]
